So…. well…. My old domain name, aleczan.com, which was 10 years old got outbidded by some asshole. I’ve been away from my PC and the internet for several weeks which happened to be the worst timing, ever. During that absence, my domain name contract with Godaddy expired. My brother had problem with his recurring automatic payment method and the website’s automated email sent to his mailbox was translated into Thai (WHY???) and got junked, so he never saw it. Then the window of cooldown period where we could renew the domain ownership had run out of time and boom, it was put on auction by Godaddy.

We were the only bidder and I was relaxed and assured. However, on the last day, a few hours before bidding ended, someone else started to compete the bid against us. There seemed to be 2 or 3 automatic bidders which kept bidding 5 USD higher than the last price. I cannot afford more than 100 USD so I decided to let it go.

I have no brain energy to figure out what’s next or what domain I should use instead, so for now I will use a temporary subdomain set by my friend.

Corn was healing in a leveling roulette the other day. This was when he was playing around with his skills and spells in the house. Lookey! Scary healer! Don’t piss him off!

The other day I was on my Culinarian, heading from Aleport to my friends’ camp, Novv’s Nursery in Sahagin Landbase. I planned to buy some groceries over there. But before I reached the store, a weird stranger sent me a tell, asking if I could help them kill their Hunt Log targets.

My first thought was like…..WTH? I’m a cook. What? How?

I had a mind to politely tell them I’m on crafter now and I’m on an errand and cannot help. But I got curious as to who and where the person was. So I asked “Where are you?” thinking maybe they saw me riding a chocobo past them and decided to send tell. The person, however, invited me to the party instead of replying, and immediately changed zone to Upper La Noscea, to Oakwood. This means they couldn’t have been anywhere near me when they initiated the conversation.

Perhaps they searched everyone in the map and my name came up first.

I wondered whether the person would notice that I wasn’t a DoW or DoM, so I rode my chocobo to meet up. Nope, they said nothing about me being a cook.  XD  Which was amusing. I decided to roll with it and summoned my chocobo, thinking I would let her kill stuff for us.

The person jumped in and attacked a Beetle. But WHOOPS!!!! It linked with 2 wolves because my level was too high and they ganged on that person. My frypan swing speed felt so slow and it took me a while to whack all 3 enemies with it to steal enmity. But the person lived and we continued, killing several beetles and wolves, all died in one hit once my chocobo started attacking. Then the person said thanks and I left.

I didn’t want to seem mean or finicky so I didn’t ask them why they chose me and whether they realized I was on crafter. XD But that incident was so amusing I had to write about it.

By the way there was one time while I was mining a Grade 3 Thanalan Topsoil from Unspoiled node in Hammaelea when I noticed a THM getting killed by a Coblyn. I engaged with my pickaxe and hit the thing once, but it wouldn’t die. In that split second I saw it trying to use an AoE move and I was like OH SHIT I can’t save this person. But my chocobo rushed forward and pecked it to death because I hit it and she entered battle mode (good thing I always leave my birdie on Free Stance instead of Healer Stance) LOL. Chocobo saved the day! That person thanked me and /bow and/kneel and stuff. It was funny I imagined the stare from my chocobo, because she might be thinking “Why you got thanks? You did nothing, me the hero.”

 

Here are 10 selected screenshots from my humongous collection of screenshot folders. ><;; General theme of this photoset is “Sunlight.” I selected pics with the sun or sunbeams in it. FFXIV has excellent lighting, so I can’t resist its sunset and sunrise, and sometimes even midday light.

Finally, with my snail-speed of fishing, I completed the achievement “A Fisher’s Life for Me: Eorzea” and received my Rod of the Luminary. Although it gives same Gathering and Perception as the rod rewarded from level 50 quest, I can really like Reduced Durability Loss +10.

I got the last sub category of fishing achievement, “Good Things Come to Those Who Bait: Black Shroud V” while fishing for my daily Timeworn map at Lake Tahtotl.

In all my fishing career (since the implementation of Achievements) I’ve fished 11309 times. I guess I spent too much time fishing in the places where there are no fishing Achievement, such as Coerthas and Mor Dhona, so I didn’t make it within the range of ~6,000 fish (1,920 per city) like it should be if you go straight from achievement to achievement for the rod.

Then, a visit to Jonathas, and the rod was mine!

But it does shine bright enough in the rain.

It also shines nicely if the angle is right.

Anyway, next goal for me will be to fish some Silver Sovereigns for the new rod that came with a patch not long ago ><;; Forager’s Fishing Rod does have yummy stats and I am so very drooling over it!

Just a quick update, I’m going out of town for a few days. So I won’t update my blog for about a week. As for my Tumblr, I might use mom’s phone to post some pics during the trip if there’s a chance to use the internet.
