Rambling about my fav NPCs

[สเตตัสเกม] [FFXIV & FFXI]

Why Stoneskin?

This is rather funny and yet is a serious business at the same time, so after thinking about it, I’d like to share my thoughts here.

Today I went out with real life friends who happen to play FFXIV on Tonberry. One of them mentioned playing WHM in a DF with stranger tank and getting asked (or more like criticized on) how she’s using Stoneskin too often, and getting told that it is a WASTE OF MP.

EXCUSE ME!

The question instantly made me frown and be ready to flip.

If one is just curious and asks why we, some WHM, if not most, like to use Stoneskin THAT much, I wouldn’t mind, and would gladly explain. But when it comes with negative notion, or saying it’s a waste, I’m ready to fume.

But I’ll try to stay civil here.

First off, Stoneskin, unlike Regen or Medica II, does not create any enmity when pre-applied. That is, if we use Stoneskin on a tank, then, when tank runs into a group of enemies, an enemy yet unclaimed by the tank won’t glare at us like “Oh this healer had already put a buff on this guy, I better kill her first.” So Stoneskin is a nice buff to have on the tank, or everyone, before the fight starts. Why? It absorbs a chunk of HP damage, equals to 10% of HP of the person whom we cast it on. So, let’s say if a tank has 30,000 HP, this Stoneskin will shield the tank for 3,000 HP damage.

Secondly, that 10% HP shield will buy us some time, at least for a few seconds. It is very useful when tank is making a long (large) pull, where the party doesn’t stop to deal with one group of enemies, but keeps moving forward for the 2nd or 3rd group of enemies before gathering them for AoE kill. While running, ideally, a healer MUST NOT Regen and shouldn’t cure the tank, because Regen will instantly pull enmity to the healer when they link or see the tank and aggro tank without claiming. And since the party is still running forward, casting Cure is kind of out of practice. Landing a Cure can also pull enmity if the tank hasn’t secured enmity on all of the enemies yet. Pulling aggro off the tank while running for a long pull can mess up the battle and may cause death. In this scenario, pre-cast Stoneskin is the best option for the healer. Sometimes if the Stoneskin wears off mid-pull, and if I see that the tank had already claimed all the current mobs, I will even Swiftcast Stoneskin before we reach the next enemy to refill the shield. This way I can start the fight with (Cleric Stance) Aero III or Holy instead of cure bombing the tank when we arrive at the destination.

Thirdly, although Stoneskin, at level 60, consumes 884 MP, while Cure only consumes 442 MP yet can heal about 3800 HP (testing at 1168 Cure Potency) non-critical. This may make Stoneskin inferior to Cure in term of MP efficiency in mid-battle situation. However, there are circumstances when spending 884 MP on Stoneskin is far more favorable. One of those circumstances is when we are on Cleric Stance mode. In Cleric Stance, my Cure (442 MP) can only do about 600 HP. Whereas Stoneskin still shields the same amount of HP (10% of max HP of the target person). Yes, Stoneskin isn’t affected by the Cure Potency penalty (switch) from Cleric Stance. If we’re nuking, on Cleric Stance, using Stoneskin is not just more proficient, but also more sensible and natural, as it does not require the WHM to switch off Cleric Stance to maximize the MP-efficiency of spell.

As for my own application of Stoneskin, I like to cast Stoneskin on tank (or myself, depending on the situation) in between my Holies, especially after first Holy, because spamming 2nd Holy immediately after the 1st will just nullify the Stun effect (yet still chips down the number of Stun we can do before fully resisted, if I’m, not mistaken). Sneaking Stoneskin (or Aero III instead, if applicable) will help me delay my casting long enough to finish 2nd Holy right after the first stun effect on enemies wear off.

Also, alongside Medica II and Regen (and perhaps an Asylum, if needed), a Stoneskin will usually make the tank recover HP in the middle of the horde of enemies, instead of losing it, which allows the WHM to leave the tank unattended even longer. We can use that duration to take care of other shit, be it a debuff that needs Esuna, or a DPS needing a Cure (I usually just throw them a Regen if thay aren’t taking more/continuous damage), or someone needs a Raise, or for me to run out of AoE range, etc. This, mind you, can be done without the hassle of switching Cleric Stance off, whereas utilizing Cure or Cure II will require us to do so.

My static tank used to tell me sorry for not standing still or stopping before running out of range when I cast Stoneskin. I said it’s fine. Then he said he’s glad I’m not mad at him, but he has a reason. If he stopped or stayed for every Stoneskin I cast on him, we could waste about 5 minutes through out the dungeon. XD So, I started to time my Stoneskin better. I aim to cast it right before the last enemy of the group die, so that the party can immediately go on for next pull. He never questioned me why I use Stoneskin that much, nor did he tell me it’s a waste of MP. And tell you what, to me, Stoneskin is something special. When I cast it on my tank, it is the collaboration between the healer and the tank (spell target) because it does not rely on MY stats, but the tank’s stat – Max HP. It is the reflection of the tank’s HP pool, not my MND or my Cure Potency. So when I cast it on a tank with 38k HP, that’s a WOW. 3800 HP free damage shield where I won’t have to cast a cure for!

And no, that does not mean we do spam Stoneskin all the time during battle in place of Cure. As I said, we are aware that it uses double the amount of MP required for Cure, so it has different application and is used in specific circumstances.

Breaking Dawn FATE in East Shroud

Today I camped a FATE in the East Shroud for several hours.

When it finally popped, I told the other person I bumped into during Breaching North Tidegate earlier (we were both there for the same book, Skyfall II) so that he or she could rush to East Shroud. Suddenly like 4 other persons were onto the FATE boss. XD What an ambush!! I thought there won’t be problem because, what? It was just 5 people (plus a Titan-Egi and a few chocobos).

However, the monster was weaker than anyone expected, so it went below 50% in like a blink. I rushed in and asked in /say for them to wait. Of course they waited!!!! That was a bunch of lovely people. I was afraid that someone would die from standing around letting the FATE boss beat on them without fighting back, so I made sure I Stoneskin and Regen everyone and kill any aggro for them.

FFXIV_BreakingDawnFATE

As you can see in the chatlog, everyone was nice. The only reason why I (and the other person who was originally there) had to repeat “Please wait” was because there was a DRG who arrived late and started attacking fiercely because he or she didn’t know that we were waiting. That DRG stopped immediately after we asked, so I was afraid they won’t get enough credit for the FATE and invited them to join my party too. Then I spammed Medica II and everyone killed it. (I noticed later that the DRG said “reset” for the sake of the person who hadn’t arrived. We didn’t reset and I didn’t see that message, but I really appreciate the effort.)

My screenshot only has names of 3 people who were originally there, the DRG who arrives late, and the person whom I notified about the pop, but I have a feeling there was one more person there in the first place. If anyone ever runs into these nice people who were kind enough and waited, please, please, please be extra nice to them.

You may notice that I didn’t get credit for the kill, I had no idea why. I did attack. I hit it with Stone and then several Repose, and also spammed Medica II.

I noticed that after I tried to leave Sylphlands and had to go back to camping it again. I was in no way mad that I missed the kill for my Book. I was strangely happy. To know and to see that they were kind and tried to wait for someone to join FATE was really wonderful. And that was enough. Not getting the kill credit cannot ruin that.

That FATE popped again 2 hours and 10 minutes after the first one died, I camped it while browsing the Internet and reading some comic books at my desk, so it wasn’t too bad.

I’m just so happy to have witnessed such act of consideration and kindness from fellow players on Ragnarok. My deepest thanks to those people.

Deserter Debuff

Deserter…. I never knew this debuff exists. My bad for not reading all update notes, but wow, so that’s what people have been talking about being locked out of dungeons. I heard of the penalty for Duty Finder which occurs when you abandon a duty before anyone else in the party, but I didn’t know it was a debuff.

Today I was ranting about people acting like an ass to get kicked by vote dismiss, so that they could avoid taking Duty Finder penalty, and then someone mentioned Deserter, so I got curious and googled it.

Of course, I never saw this debuff, because I never left first. I was always, emphasize ALWAYS, the last one to leave the duty. People bailed on me. I never bailed on anyone. I don’t know if this is good or bad, LOL. But it’s funny that I did not know about this debuff. I now only managed to find out that patch 2.1 had increased 15 minutes penalty to 30 minutes. I have no idea how long this penalty had been introduced to Duty Finder. I am so last year. LOL!!!

My Scholar Training Progress

Day 1:
Lv. 16+ Roulette – Copperbell Mines (cap level 20)

Successful.

I ran into weird lag problem near the end. I kept seeing the tank and archer still standing at a treasure chest (frozen and when I targeted them, it says they were targeting the chest) and there were also 3 monsters staring at them and having names in orange (agro, but not claimed). While in reality, they already went ahead and killing next group monsters. When I caught up with the group, I saw the tank and the archer fighting with enemies, but I couldn’t target them either from party list or from on-screen mouse click. So before last boss room, I let the tank die, he returned and ran back.

We engaged the boss and started killing. I still had problem targeting the two of them. At times, I would be able to target the archer, and it would show that the archer was targeting boss with 0 HP. LOL!!! I had to rely on my faerie to auto cure them because I couldn’t target them. So I helped to nuke the boss instead. All the time, I was screaming about not able to target tank or archer. And I still got 3 commendations at exit. TAT Whoa, must be because of my dramatic screaming. Sorry guys, hope I didn’t annoy you with all my whining. That sure was a horrible bug to happen inside a dungeon!!!

Day 2:
Lv. 16+ Roulette – Sastasha

Successful. Very easy. I had Eos on auto, though. I ran around to try to shut the gate on the floor to prevent adds popping, but it got out of hands and near the end we had lots of adds popping up. The party seemed to completely ignore them so we just tried to kill the boss as fast as we could. I helped nuke while letting faerie cure LOL.

Main Scenario Roulette – Praetorium

Successful. Had another healer who was White Mage. So it was quite easy.

Lv. 50 Roulette – Pharos Sirius

Miserably failed. Details here : http://www.aleczan.com/FFXIVARR/2014/my-failed-pharos-attempt/

Day 3:

Lv. 16+ Roulette – Haukke Manor (cap level 31)

Successful.

ffxiv_01072014_153547

I got in as a healer replacement while the party was about to fight last boss. The fight went well. I still had to keep Eos on auto-mode because the battle was overwhelming and I couldn’t keep up with manual mode. ><;;

Lv. 50 Roulette – Amdapor Keep

Successful.

ffxiv_01062014_183512

I got into a party with 2 bards. One seemed to know a lot of shit and always went ahead to pull or activate stuff in order to speed up the run. They were nice and forgiving, but not quite communicative. I aggroed some Armor guy while they were fighting something else and they managed well and said np. They did very well and killed fast. Demon Wall was tough but with my Faerie on auto mode, I had a bit extra cure power.

I couldn’t keep up with the cure at Demon Wall, though, so the other bard died right before we won.

At start, I told them I never came here before and they didn’t bail, yet didn’t tell me anything either, LOL. Had to learn on the spot and kept dodging stuff which I see coming. Like the first boss with freaking huge hazard zone….I had to keep following the tank and hug tight when I saw the 2 bards came hug the tank. Then at Demon Wall, I had no information other than I had to stay in the middle of the bridge to avoid being knocked off into the cliff. So I learned to dodge shit by getting hit once. LOL.

ffxiv_01062014_191634

Anyway, at last boss, I asked and the tank said to follow the hax bard. LOL. OK so I stood where he stood, and moved when he moved. It went smoothly until near the end where I was targeted by the purple line, and then a globe of dark energy drew near. I dodged but didn’t dare to leave my spot because it was the safe spot for when boss did AoE. But I got hit and the party was in a very bad shape, but they killed the boss immediately after that.

So, I didn’t learn the mechanic of the last boss in AK at all. LOL. Gotta research some time later.

Day 4:

Lv. 16+ Roulette – Tam-Tara Deepcroft (cap level 19)

Successful.

Never had to switch Eos back to auto mode. Yay!~

Lv. 50 Roulette – Amdapor Keep

Failed badly.

I got in as a replacement healer when the part was stuck at fighting Demon Wall. Their healer seemed to have bailed because time was running low (about 25 mins left). We went and wiped. Then at next try, BLM got knocked off the bridge and we wiped. Not enough time, so everyone quit.

Lv. 50 Roulette again – The Wanderer’s Palace

Successful.

I did this dungeon in a daze, I don’t even remember now whether I had Eos on auto or manual. All I remember is that I told the party that I never came here as SCH before, but usually a WHM. They said good enough, and that it’s a chance I get to practice SCH. Right!! ^^ Then my Eos kept getting eaten by big bad Bob (Tonberry Stalker).

We won and parted happily. The tank was exceptionally friendly. He even asked how did I like playing SCH so far. ^^ Of course, I like it so much, but there is so much to learn.

Day 5:

Lv. 50 Roulette – Haukke Manor (Hard)

Failed.

ffxiv_01082014_130610

I got in when the party only had Black Mage and Dragoon left. The BLM was a screenshot enthusiast. So we took some pics before a new tank arrived. Then we had a pic with the tank as well.

The fight was so crazy and I also had to put my Faerie on auto (after a few failed attempts to manually control her). Even then, I still couldn’t keep up with healing. We didn’t have enough DPS to kill the maids, so the Rain something attack killed us every time. I also couldn’t dodge some of the AoE attacks. The party was often in bad shape. I and the tank didn’t know the fight and was our first time in Haukke (hard). We kept trying until we had 5 mins left. Then we stood and chatted at the entrance, LOL.  We took screenshots until we got kicked.

Lv. 50 Roulette again – Copperbell Mines (Hard)

Successful, with a lot of wipes.

I got into a party full of French people. They were talking French to each other, probably discussing about battle plans and stuff. I relied mostly on my knowledge from previous run (using WHM) where I was just following the tank around, especially at the boss fight on wooden bridge, because he told me to always hide behind him.

We did very good this run, until the last boss. The BLM kept dying because he was on feeding duty, and whenever he got heavy debuff, he would get eaten. I wasn’t fast enough to run and cast Leeches (SCH’s Esuna) on him. They talked about plans and stuff in French. Then at one point, the BLM spoke in English telling tank to place the boss near the middle (on the rocks, not on sand) so that I would be in range to cure worm feeding person.

We did ok until BLM died XD LOL. Then on last try, which was the successful try, the BLM said we will get it this time, and my work will be lighter. I think maybe they noticed that I couldn’t keep up with the cure and debuff ; ;

I had my Faerie on auto mode on this boss (and also on the bombing bridge boss) because I couldn’t keep up with the hectic rhythm of the battle.

The monk managed to use Limit Break on the boss before dying. I raised BLM and they went crazy on the boss near the end. At one point I only focused on curing the tank and let them die, but we won just in time before something else worse happened.

>_<

Lv. 16+ Roulette – The Thousand Maws of Toto-Rak (cap at level 27)

Successful.

My Eos was on manual mode full-time. ^^

ffxiv_01092014_201336

We ran into a minor hiccup when my bro knocked on my door to summon me for a piece of pizza, and I left my chair, typing something like “BRB a sec, somsone knocked on my door.” I returned and saw that the party already went ahead and fought next group of enemies ALL BECAUSE I didn’t type in Party, but in Linkshell channel!!!!!!! TAT So the tank died and the Archer had to tank while I caught up with them and tried to cure. Then the Archer died while I was resurrecting the tank. Archer returned to run back, we killed a web what’s blocking the way and entered a room where the 2nd boss would pop. When the Archer arrived, he couldn’t enter the room! His character kept running forward, but was pushed by an invisible wall (he said it’s not invisible on his screen, but for me there was nothing! In the above screenshot, he was blocked out just before reaching the purple line.) I saw it. And he kept saying he can’t pass that spot. It was a bizarre glitch! Maybe it happened because we killed that web barricade while he wasn’t in the screen, so his system still thought there was a web blocking his way. TAT After a while he probably returned to the entrance and then came back again, then he was able to get in.

***************************

Right now I’m on a break, as I feel like I’ve been doing too much dungeon runs with strangers, it’s getting stressful, especially when the party keeps dying because I cannot keep up with the healing. It makes me feel bad about myself and I take some mental damage to my healer esteem. I also feel bad for being a hindrance for the party. I think I might have to start again from partying up with friends, so that if we keep dying, we can communicate and work on what I need to improve, or get some advice. Also it will not drag strangers into my practice so they won’t have to suffer my mess.

Problem is my friends are hardly online at the same time, as people have their own schedule in real life. And even if I only pair up with my tank friend and seek 2 random DPS from the Duty Finder, that would not serve as a practice run, as he is too good. He almost never died. So I won’t be able to evaluate myself whether I am doing good or doing bad, because he would just not die. ><;;

My other problem is I am not familiar with partying up with strangers. So when I’m in random party from Duty Finder, it’s a little stressful.

Ugh, I just need a little break. I’ll resume my training with Duty Finder soon….. Probably during this weekend.

My Failed Pharos Attempt

My 5th Attempt at Pharos Sirius. (Failed)

This might be considered a rant, but it’s not a rant against people or player, but about my own failure.

Today my lv. 50 Duty Roulette decided to be mean to me and sent me to Pharos Sirius again. Let’s see, 1st time to 4th time, I was in there as a WHM. Today I got confident in using my Scholar, as I did well in Praetorium as a secondary healer, and I wanted to practice more SCH, so I hit lv. 50 Roulette with SCH. And yeah, it threw me inside Pharos Sirius again. How brutal!!! T.T

ffxiv_01052014_221535s

Brief review of my previous Pharos runs,
1st – Didn’t get past first boss (the pirate) but I learned about the stacking debuff and the explosion. Kept dying, pretty much because we couldn’t dodge well while dealing with adds until tank and bard bailed.

2nd –  Got in as a replacement when party was at Siren. Wiped once, then router died. Got so mad ; ; Sorry, strangers. Terribly sorry.

3rd – All members are quite new to Pharos. Great party. They were willing to communicate and to keep trying. Here, I finally learned that not only boss AoE attacks that give debuff, but the dog’s attack also does it! Wiped once, then won. Got to Zu, but kept dying until bard had to leave the house. Got a replacement bard who knew the fight and educated us to kill only the hatching eggs. Still wiped. New bard bailed. Disbanded.

4th – Got in as a replacement during first boss. Party didn’t communicate but they seemed to know the fight. However, the adds (dogs) swarmed around me and ate me. Was going to retry but bard bailed. BLM commented that the bard wasn’t helping to kill the adds and just left like it was our fault. LOL. Tank said sorry, last try, then we got a new bard, but we still died. So everyone disbanded.

Today we got in and the tank named Snow Winter was being honest and said it’s his first time in Pharos. Someone immediately left, so we had tank, me, and Zambari Amari (BLM) when Fureya Jhamei (BRD) joined as a replacement. I am naming them here in hope that they will see this entry and hear my apology. T.T

This team got to Zu, and nobody knew the true trick of the fight. That is, to kill the hatching eggs but NOT ALL of them. So, I’ve been shooting the damn eggs when they were threatening to hatch, and the Zu got enraged and used stun AoE that’s brutal on me (and anyone near me) then used wing attack AoE to kill the back-row people. I am so sorry I made you guys die multiple times.

Zambari had enough deaths, so this BLM left and we got Misha Lune, a very patient BLM who stuck with us until the very end. I can’t remember when, but the bard also left, and we got a Summoner named Cyber Impact as a replacement. I was killing the eggs in this round, too. So Misha spoke up and said to leave eggs to him/her, otherwise the Zu kill us. Misha kindly explained that killing the eggs will stack buff on the boss. So, eventually, we won and it realized it was ME who’s been making us fail repeatedly at Zu!!!!

So, sorry again, Fureya and Zambari. It was all my fault.

Then, we got to 3rd boss, which was pretty quick and easy. Misha announce the strategy which cracked me up XD “(Misha Lune) ok here burn the boss fast before healer dies” and then explained that I will have to kite all the adds while party kill boss. But in reality, I couldn’t attract the adds, so Snow got them all, but they killed the boss very fast and without any problem.

Then, the damned lady of the ocean, Siren, was our roadblock. We kept trying until SMN had enough of it (sorry, Cyber T.T I kept screwing it up by getting caught by the crawling zombies). Then in the last 10 minutes of the timer, we got a bard named Swift Claw as a replacement. I learned JUST NOW that to dodge the AoE charm, we hide under Siren. I’ve been running away and hugging the room’s wall to avoid it (my dodge failed once and succeeded twice) because Misha screamed that the tank must also hide UNDER Siren, or face the charm spell.

However, when she picked one random target to charm, if it was me or the tank, I always failed to heal up. Damn me. I got so mad at my lousy skill at playing SCH. I even had the help in curing from my faerie, Eos. Yet I still failed to top up my own HP or tank’s HP when charm landed. So, of course, we wiped twice and that’s it, out of time.

I want to say sorry to all these people, Snow Winter, Misha Lune, Swift Claw, Cyber Impact, Zambari Amari, and Fureya Jhamei. And special thanks for Snow and Misha for the patience to stick it out to the end. Also thanks to Swift Claw for being energetic and positive even when we were running out of time. Again, thanks Misha for teaching me a lot of things to watch out for on each boss fight. As for me, I still am not confident enough in my SCH to say I will beat Pharos the next try. L Lots more to practice. I always have my faerie on auto mode. People said it’s better to manually control the faerie for MP conservation. Yep, I always have MP issue. SO I think that’s where I need to practice. ><;;

I’m alive and well

Hi, all. Just a quick post to let you know that I am still alive and well. Been a bit busy going to places in Eorzea and hanging out with friends and stuff, you know.

I’ve also finished my fishing log in the Black Shroud as well as Mor Dhona (since last week, eeeeep!) I will get around to posting the fishing map and fish list soon.

Fleece Farming, Again

Suppose there are 8 Karakuls at a farm, and you get there when it had no one else. You start killing them one by one. Suppose you can kill as many as 4 Karakuls before they start to repop. You may find any of these situations when someone else arrives:

– They kill the other 4 Karakuls in each round of respawn cycle without even trying to snatch your half of the mobs.

– They leave after killing a few Karakuls, for whatever reason.

– They obviously intentionally leave because they don’t want to seem like asshole.

– They try to compete by trying to claim Karakuls as fast as they can, as  many as they can, even the one that pops right on your character.

– They try to compete by claiming as many Karakuls as they can, plus trying exceptionally hard to not letting you get ANY of the Karakuls.

I have experienced all of these, either when I farmed Karakuls as WHM50 and as ACN/SMN 38 to 41. People are indeed interesting. ^_^

Fleece Farming

Today I logged in in Coerthas after some FATE hunting last night. I saw Svara’s series was up, so I went there. This is the only set of FATEs in Coerthas that I enjoy making effort to go to, because it is 3 FATEs in a row, and thus I could hardly be too late to get good EXP. I usually end up getting gold medals, which yield about 15k, 15k, and 30k EXP consecutively.

Anyway, after that, I saw an empty Fleece farming spot, so I claimed it in hope to get some Fleece for my new Woolen Robe set, and to kill time while waiting for next Svara FATE. Then a MNK (or a PGL, not sure) came with battle chocobo and shared half of the farm with me. I don’t mind because I can’t kill all the sheep before first dead sheep respawns anyway. We both claimed and killed the Karakuls one by one.

Then I had to go for lunch. I returned and saw the same person still there, so I resumed my farming. After a while, the person left. So I kept killing. It’s a shame I can’t remember their name because I didn’t pay attention enough to memorize it and went AFK for lunch for a long time and forgot to take screenshot when I got back, and they left abruptly later. :(

Then another matter came up and I had to switch away from FFXIV to do stuff on my PC. Sometimes I peaked and saw a BRD (or ARC, I didn’t check) by the name of Akira Beaty (nice person!) killing all the sheep, and I went back to doing my other stuff.

Then, when I finally got back to the game and started killing ONE sheep, that person Akira Beaty ran away, saying something like “Aleczan you were here first and now you’re back so I’ll leave. Don’t want to be an asshole that wants to steal.” Probably referring to another person, BLM, who was also present at the camp and pulling all the sheep together before using AoE spell to kill them off.

That was very kind. Though it is unnecessary to feel obligated to leave the farm when AFK farmer who was there before gets back, I felt very grateful. I don’t own the farm simply by being there first, but it is very considerate and nice of them to yield the way like that. It makes me happy to find such players in the game. As I hate competition, and I feel that MMORPG should be more like helping each other instead of being hostile and competitive.

Anyway, I continued to try to win the claim war against the BLM, named Kaol’tan something (they turned out to be quite nice and friendly). Sometimes I win 2 or 3 Karakuls from one round of pops (probably 8 sheep there in total). The intense, unfriendly competition went on and on. I got kind of annoyed and just stopped caring about the claim and just kept attacking the sheep even when I lost the claim war anyway, because I get EXP when I outdamage them. And I think sometimes I even got the Fleece, too.

Then at one point, the BLM started talking in /say first, saying “So close” which probably referring to me almost winning the claim on that one Karakul. I didn’t know what they wanted so I said “Yeah so close and I’m almost level up too.” Because my EXP bar was almost full, it made me happy. The person was shocked to know that I was doing it for EXP and said it is bad EXP farm and suggested that FATEs are far better for EXP.

I explained to them that I can’t keep up with the chocobo riding to get to FATEs and that I got bad EXP from FATEs when I get there late (and I meant to say 1000 EXP but I mistyped it into 100 EXP, LOL!) They said joining FATE party will rock the EXP. I said thanks, I’ll do that later. Well, I usually don’t join FATE party because I want to level up my Chocobo too. So I always have my battle chocobo in my party when in Coerthas.

I also told the BLM that I kill Sheep for EXP to kill time while waiting for Svara, and also hoping for lucky drop of Fleece to make my new set of robe, as the current one (also woolen) is due for Materia conversion already. Then, at one point they just sat there on the ledge and stopped killing the sheep, probably trying to let me have an easy time claiming the sheep and killing for some fleece. So I went around attacking them in a killing spree. At my full speed and attention, I could hardly kill 5 Karakuls before first one pop, as I killed them one by one, with the help of Ifrit-Egi and my chocobo. And after a while, I almost ran out of MP because I’ve been using Fester to consume my Aetherflow effects instead of refilling my MP with Energy Drain. XD

Then it was 10 mins until maintenance, so I regretfully had to leave the scene, in order to get Sanctuary effect while logged out.

Anyway, by talking to a farm competitor and having friendlier ambiance in the claim war, it feels much less stressful to compete, and I don’t get mad when I lose the claim to my opponent when they seem friendly. Also, at first impression you may feel or judge that someone is a complete bastard and so greedy, but if they talk to you and you exchange opinions a little, you might feel like they’re not too bad a person. I can’t say the BLM is a great person because I only talked to them for less than an house, but at least they were not just a totally greedy, selfish jerk who doesn’t share with others. They were willing to share. However, if I never talked to the BLM, I would probably now be ranting about them here, saying they were awfully greedy for hogging all the Karakuls, blah blah blah. LOL.

It’s wonderful how a little bit of human interaction makes gaming much more enjoyable.
