Knight Captain’s Chair in different brown dyes

Today I made a mistake of dying my chair Rose Pink. So I had to remove the dye using Terebinth. However, I thought it might be better to try to match the chair’s brown to my table (I’m using Glade Dining Table which unfortunately cannot be painted) so I tried many browns. I took some screenshots for self reference in picking the best brown, so I’m uploading them in case someone will find them useful.

Amaljaa Dye Colors (Reputation Tier 3)

Ok, ok, so I have a lot to do and a lot to write about, but I’m a bad blogger who’s super lazy so my blog has been quite idle this week. Therefore, in order to make it have some activity, I’m cheating today by posting 3 pics for the 3 new dyes from Amalj’aa Beast Tribe Vendor (patch 2.1).

Model: my friend on Ragnarok (whose name I’ll omit because I didn’t have permission from him :P LOLOLOL)

You need Reputation rank 3 (1 is Neutral, 2 is Recognized, 3 is Friendly). I haven’t gotten to it yet, but my friend was kind enough to remember that I wanted to see the new dyes, so when he attained Friendly Rank, he invited me to observe while he tried out the new dyes on his Summoner’s clothing.

I haven’t gotten around to making screenshots comparison for the new dyes yet. I am waiting for myself to have access to all the new dyes first (and enough inventory space to buy them hahahahaha!)

Patch 2.1 New Dyes

*I am listing crafted dyes only, for now.*

With patch 2.1, there are 20 new colors of dye in the game, 6 crafted dyes and 14 vendor dyes. They freaking added 6 brown dyes while purple only got 2!!!! NO, I am not jealous at all. (TwT) Uguuuuuuuuuguuuuuuuugh! (crying noise) Green got 5 new colors. Blue also got 5. Finally, there are 1 yellow and 1 orange.

You can see the list here http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/topics/detail/03843d6bf7ba69adc37d7955ff7af43f3c43828a under “New dyes have been added.”

Patch 2.1’s New Crafted Dyes:
Sunset Orange
Kobold Brown
Ochu Green
Othard Blue
Storm Blue
Plum Purple

(But where is my lavender purple!? Wahhhhh /cry)

Patch 2.1’s New Vendor Dyes:
Qiqirn Brown
Aldgoat Brown
Acorn Brown
Shale Brown
Coeurl Yellow
Raisin Brown
Lime Green
Marsh Green
Cactuar Green
Turquoise Green
Seafog Blue
Peacock Blue
Raptor Blue
Currant Purple

The new vendor dyes are sold from beast tribe vendors, according to gamerescape.com. However, in order to be able to purchase these new dyes from the beastmen vendors, I need to not only unlock the access to beast tribe vendor, but also need to gain enough reputation to step up in Beast Tribe Relations rank. Currently I am at Neutral with the Sylphs, which is the first rank. And I will need 150 reputation points to be able to get a promotion to next rank. Each day, I can take 3 daily quests from the Sylphs. So it means it will take me at least 10 days to get to 2nd rank. However, there is no guarantee that the next rank will enable me to buy dyes from the Sylphic Vendor, as I have no idea which rank the dyes are at. The same goes for the Amalj’aa.

So today I’ll just post the pics for the new crafted dyes first. Unfortunately, I no longer own the same sets of gear I used when I compared old crafted dyes. Therefore, I am going to show the new crafted dyes on 3 sets of craft class specific equipment (lv 50 gear).

Oh, and here’s a bonus pic (below), my usual dyes color on these 3 sets of gear. I use the combination of Lotus Pink, Regal Purple and Abyssal Blue. And then, only on the Goldsmith’s Gloves, I used Snow White Dye.

Big blooper

Holy freakinggggggggggggg Moogles! I made many many bad mistakes in my Pigments info entry. I just saw that a lot of the map pics aren’t in the correct spot, and many of my text info are wrong (like, saying botanist instead of miner, and saying miner instead of botanist). Woe is me! And so many people have seen the entry. Ahhhhhhhh I am so embarrassed.

When I uploaded and attached my image files, the order became messy so I had to drag the pics around trying to arrange them, but I got the order wrong in so many places. I am now at grandma’s house and have no PC, so I cannot correct my entry now. I will do it tomorrow when I go home. So sorry to every one.

NEWS FLASH!

Being stubborn and trying to edit the entry using my iPad spelled a disaster. Now most of the map screenshots are dead links. Oh what have I done!? Woe is meeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Wahhhhh! //goes to bed pouting. Tomorrow I will correct all my boo boo. TAT but now I am out of wit.

Additional information: for the locations of the NPC shops that sell these dye pots, please scroll down to the bottom of this entry.

*UPDATED 13 Sep 2013*
I originally forgot Ash Grey Dye, and had probably mixed it up with Goobbue Grey, so I have made a new set of Grey Dyes screenshots and replace the old one. Also, I just noticed that some of the screenshots didn’t have the link to its large image, so now I corrected that as well.

————————————————————-

After making a post about crafted dyes, my friend asked for store-bought dyes that we buy from NPC at merchant stalls in the markets. So here goes, all the dyes in screenshots.

This set of equipment includes:
Head – Bronze Sallet
Body – Woolen Shirt
Hands – Goatskin Armguards
Legs – Hempen Kecks

By the way, you can click on the pictures to load the large image.

FFXIV Dye Reference

*For screenshots of the 6 new crafted dyes from patch 2.1, please see my new entry.*
*For store-bought dyes from merchant NPCs, please see next entry.

Some screenshots as color reference for FFXIV: ARR dye system. I did all 13 colors on both sets of my gear. These screenshots will show how each of the new (craft only) dyes look on different type of materials (cotton, velveteen, leather, metal, etc.)

The set on the left consists of:
Head – Mythril Magnifiers
Body – Velveteen Gown
Hands – Cotton Halfgloves
Legs –  Cotton Breeches

The set on the right consists of:
Head – Steel Goggles
Body – Velveteen Doublet Vest
Hands – Woolen Work Gloves
Legs – Boarskin Culottes

By the way, I’m sorry that the second set toward the end had its pics taken around sunset, so the colors might seem a bit weird due to the lighting. ><;;

Color Pigments And Dyes

*UPDATED* 13 Sep 2013
This entry was almost ALL wrong due to my stupidity. At one point while dragging the pics around arranging the order, I put the map screenshot 1 slot wrong, so everything down the line was also 1 spot wrong, making most of the info mismatched. Now I have corrected it all. My sincere apology to every of my readers who had gotten the wrong information and was probably confused and unable to find the items. Terribly sorry. ><;;

———————————————-

Okie dokie, instead of spamming my mouse trying to log in, waiting for a miracle to be placed on queue, I would rather do something informative and compile some info I’ve gotten from playing around with the new dyes. I really like that they added more of the new colors for armor/clothes dye system. These “new” dyes cannot be bought from vendor NPC or shop stalls like Dyemonger in Limsa or Independent Merchant in Ul’dah, but have to be crafted using level 30 recipe of any of the crafting class. The ingredient to make a pot of dye is one color pigment and 2 crystals. The element of the crystals required depends on your crafting class.

Dye_Crafting

I’ve been going around to use my Disciples of the Land: Botanist and Miner, to gather all of the available pigments. There are 7 colors of pigment, and they can be crafted into 13 colors of dye in total.

The pigments and gather spots are as follows:

————————————————————————————

Blue Pigment: Grouped with Water Crystal.
Method: Logging (Botanist, main hand)
Location: Eastern La Noscea – Bloodshore
