Corn is barbaric when he’s on SMN

Lately, Corn had shifted to playing SMN instead of PLD. I guess he got tired of tanking and found a new fun in the DEEPS zone. He seems chirpy and energetic when he shredded the horde of enemies into pieces with his magick. Nowadays he goes to roulettes with us on his SMN about 98% of the time.

Today, too, he was on SMN. And we were about to do some unsync runs for the kitten’s sticker book (Wondrous Tails) but I was distracted by the new teaser trailer, drooling at the monks sparring. I changed to Monk to admire my new gearset, which Corn and I and Diver crafted yesterday. Then there was a kaching and I realized Corn entered CoB T1 while I was on my monk. XD

I was like “Oh shit, I’m on monk.” But Corn said “I know.”

So, yeah we went on and killed the trash mobs. Corn died at the last mass pull before I could kill the damn Golem. I finished off the few mobs that were still alive, and we tacked the epic Snake.

Long story short, after letting Corn tank one half of the snake while Titan-Egi tanked the first half, Corn died and Titan went poof! So both halves of the snake came after me, and merged. I tried to put up the fight best I could, but I died. Corn went homepoint after he died so he didn’t see my epicness. As, after I died for about a second, the snake also died. We double-KO. lol

I swear I didn’t remember using Blood for Blood. I never used Blood For Blood while straight-tanking anything. So I guess it was either I used it when Titan was still alive, or I accidentally smashed the button while in frenzy. I would have been so bummed out if we didn’t win. So that DoT was a nice save!!!

T2-T7 Cleared for Chibidew

Last night we had quite an adventure. Chibidew got to the point where she can tackle CoB and SCoB (her goal is to co-tank with Corn against NVD, LOL). Coincidentally,  yesterday Corn got some new recipe from some Masterbook IV, and wanted to know where the Allagan Aetherstones drop. We decided to go to CoB to see if they really drop from there, and to see the drop rate.

Since Chibidew already cleared T1 with us long ago, we went to T4 (because it’s short) and T2 just to also get the completion. We asked PZ and he was interested, and logged in to join us. Therefore, with Kuji, we had 5 people. T4 and T2 were very easy and I thought we would try those again to see the drop rate and to farm what already dropped, but Corn suggested that since we had 5 people, we might as well tackle T5. Of course, all agreed.

However, since I suck (VERY BADLY) and kept dying to Dive Bombs, Corn had to change to his other job, SMN, to ensure there is a second raise for oh-shit situations. And then, Kuji had to go AFK for dinner, so we had 4 people.

After so many tries, mostly wiping to Deathknights + Twister, we finally…..downed Twintania.

Kuji came back while we were killing first set of adds on our last attempt, but we stayed in hope of getting more practice before leaving the duty to pick him up. Turned out to miraculously won in that attempt!

Then PZ had to go to sleep, as it was 3 a.m. We still went on with SCoB though… Killing T6 (wiped twice before figuring we better ignore the slimes).

Then, we continued to T7. XD We wiped so many times I felt that it was impossible and that we should wait for PZ and do it again next week. Nope. There seems to be no “impossible” in Corn’s dictionary. He again changed to SMN to help deal with the adds, since our main problem was the adds which swarmed me or him and was killing everyone.

We also, for the first time for us, figured out (through intensive googling) that we must stand outside of the “hitbox” of the petrified Renaud (Ogre add, is it an ogre? LOL I don’t know the enemy type) to make it count, otherwise the system considers it to not block the ray.

Finally,with enormous difficulty, we won.

:D It was soooooooooo exhausting but also a shit load of fun. Personally, though this is both tiring and time-consuming, I would not hesitate to do this again with my FC folks. It provided challenges and also an opportunity to put our capability under stress test. I also feel it helps tighten the bond between us. It’s so refreshing to have FC activities, because lately it’s rare we do anything together in the FC as a group of more than 3, due to the extensive list of daily things that everyone has to complete and the limited playtime of those who have a full-time job, and the time zone differences. ><;;

And here’s s group pic in the workshop while we made some progress to the Airship part, after T7 ended. Missing PZ, though. :'(

T5-T8 down, T9 underway

During the past weekend, my FC had a rare occurrence where 5 members were on at the same time and had the same plan: Ponies farm for Kirin and slowly progressing through our CoB content.

On Saturday we went for a round against the Primals and got a pony from Shiva, we decided to tackle T5, Twintania, again. This was like our 5th or 6th session in T5, as it was hard to gather enough people to try to practice against the Death Knights and Twister. We kept going at it for about 5 times this session, and finally fell Twintania and earned our long-awaited cutscenes.

On the last attempt where we won, I died from a Death Knight while Twintania was at 18%, but the rest ofthe party was able to finish it due to Corn’s epic timing in using Hallowed Ground and spamming Clemency on himself. I couldn’t believe my eyes lol. I was in shock, in awe, and in a daze I only got 1 bad screenshot of that scene ; ; So sad!

Then, we continued to the Second Coil of Bahamut and started T6.
ffxiv_11012015_021605_new

T6 was quite straightforward and we won against Rafflesia without a wipe (I didn’t even know how we won. I can’t remember, I was in zombie mode in that fight because it became Sunday’s 3 a.m. and I had donated my blood on Saturday morning. I got very sleepy during the run.)  It was quite a healing-intensive fight, and although I had watched the video guide (by MrHappy, of course) I couldn’t remember shit and was just running around, into the thorns, following the tank and keeping everyone alive, oh and also spamming Assize.

Then, we continued to T7 and kind of just winged it. We learned by practice after a quick read-up on mechanics. However, it was very late at night and had to disband after several wipes.

ffxiv_11012015_025129_newffxiv_11012015_025407_new

On Sunday, we went back to T7 again to try to defeat the Lamia. After practicing while adapting the normal strategy to our unorthodox party for a while, we finally won.

Then, T8 was so bad due to my sudden lag spikes.  (resmon showed my FFXIV ping to be 2900 – 3400) that it was impossible to play. So I hopped the line and stole dad’s wifi signal instead. It then became playable. But I was a spoiled healer. I got very upset at the number of the mechanics to learn and memorize, so I decided to ask my party if I could just stand there lime dumb and heal bomb people, not dealing with the towers. I just couldn’t remember shit, especially since I was unwilling to spend 10-20 minutes watching any guide, so PZ gave brief to everyone, and me, while I was having lags issue and trying like hell to get to the boss room after we used wrong pads and jumped all over the place in random directions. I couldn’t concentrate on reading his brief, though. I was too busy trying to stay alive through ping 3400 while fumbling around to find my party and yelling at PZ for telling me to stop running. Worse yet, all the chatlog was wiped when I relogged to change internet connection, so I couldn’t scroll up to read anything.
ffxiv_11022015_024131_newffxiv_11022015_035441_new

I left all the tower management burden on my teammates. You guys got my extreme gratitude. I really couldn’t split my attention to anything else and was so overwhelmed it was frustrating. By getting to just stand there like dumb and doing nothing but my healing duty really was a big help.

ffxiv_11022015_035444_new

Then, although it was like 4 a.m., we went to T9, partly for the cutscene. We are still learning the mechanics here but it was hard to watch video and adapt, as the phases went so fast because of the high DPS from the party being unsynced. (Actually, phases went abnormally fast in every of the Turns we passed, but somehow this one was so brutal when phases were sped up.)

ffxiv_11022015_040000_new

Although we haven’t won yet, it was a good training run. It took a lot to learn and memorize, because this boss has a shit load of crazy mechanics. For now, I know how and where to drop the comets and when to share damage or when to split up. We will eventually get this. :D
