Fishing Log – The Black Shroud

I haven’t typed out the fish list yet, and the screenshots of the fish list are all done, but I’ll need a bit to upload all of them. However, I have to force myself to make this entry, otherwise I will keep procrastinating. I’m arranging and adding details to this entry slowly, but for now is will show just the map screenshots. Sorry for the incomplete information, but I must publish this to push myself to do it, LOL. ><;; The longer I leave it, the more lazy I get!

Cure Spam In Town

One thing that gets on my nerves is that some people like to spam skill or spam spell in the city. It’s so annoying, especially when you are crafting and is bound on the floor, while the person decides to stand near you or in the sound effect range of you and spam skill like their button is haunted. Just right now, for what the hell ever reason, there is a Lalafell Scholar who came to stand near me and is spamming cure using their Eos faerie. It’s been continuing on and on for 10 minutes now. I got up and moved away from the person to decrease the noise but it’s sooooooooooooooo annoying even at a distance. :(

People, if you want to spam your skill or your spell for whatever freaking reason, at least please don’t do it beside a crafter’s ear!!!!! Come on. Have some consideration. :(

Connection Lost (Rant)

So I just got home and logged on, trying to do Duty Roulette for extra 40 M Tomes. I got into Pharos as a replacement, the party was at last boss. We went in and wiped once, while we were running back to the boss room, my freaking Wireless Signal died on me and I got kicked off the server. By the time I got back into the server, all 3 members already left. Time was about 6 mins left. T.T I thought I could try to be useful in Pharos for once….but nope, stupid router had to ruin my day.

Well, it was my 2nd time in Pharos, and on the first time (my yesterday’s roulette) we didn’t even beat the first boss. Not sure if 6 mins was enough for last boss or not, but I feel very sorry to those 3 people. :( I’m sorry I gave you false hope of getting a new healer and then crushed that hope when time was running out. I don’t even remember anyone’s name. T.T

Patch 2.1 New Dyes

*I am listing crafted dyes only, for now.*

With patch 2.1, there are 20 new colors of dye in the game, 6 crafted dyes and 14 vendor dyes. They freaking added 6 brown dyes while purple only got 2!!!! NO, I am not jealous at all. (TwT) Uguuuuuuuuuguuuuuuuugh! (crying noise) Green got 5 new colors. Blue also got 5. Finally, there are 1 yellow and 1 orange.

You can see the list here http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/topics/detail/03843d6bf7ba69adc37d7955ff7af43f3c43828a under “New dyes have been added.”

Patch 2.1’s New Crafted Dyes:
Sunset Orange
Kobold Brown
Ochu Green
Othard Blue
Storm Blue
Plum Purple

(But where is my lavender purple!? Wahhhhh /cry)

Patch 2.1’s New Vendor Dyes:
Qiqirn Brown
Aldgoat Brown
Acorn Brown
Shale Brown
Coeurl Yellow
Raisin Brown
Lime Green
Marsh Green
Cactuar Green
Turquoise Green
Seafog Blue
Peacock Blue
Raptor Blue
Currant Purple

The new vendor dyes are sold from beast tribe vendors, according to gamerescape.com. However, in order to be able to purchase these new dyes from the beastmen vendors, I need to not only unlock the access to beast tribe vendor, but also need to gain enough reputation to step up in Beast Tribe Relations rank. Currently I am at Neutral with the Sylphs, which is the first rank. And I will need 150 reputation points to be able to get a promotion to next rank. Each day, I can take 3 daily quests from the Sylphs. So it means it will take me at least 10 days to get to 2nd rank. However, there is no guarantee that the next rank will enable me to buy dyes from the Sylphic Vendor, as I have no idea which rank the dyes are at. The same goes for the Amalj’aa.

So today I’ll just post the pics for the new crafted dyes first. Unfortunately, I no longer own the same sets of gear I used when I compared old crafted dyes. Therefore, I am going to show the new crafted dyes on 3 sets of craft class specific equipment (lv 50 gear).

Normal colors (default colors):

Kobold Brown:

Ochu Green:

Othard Blue:

Oh, and here’s a bonus pic (below), my usual dyes color on these 3 sets of gear. I use the combination of Lotus Pink, Regal Purple and Abyssal Blue. And then, only on the Goldsmith’s Gloves, I used Snow White Dye.

Cannot purchase SQUARE ENIX Crysta with PayPal

– unresolved, as of 24 Dec 2013 –

Cannot purchase SQUARE ENIX Crysta with PayPal

Recently, starting since last month – November 2013 – I’ve been having recurring problem in purchasing SQUARE ENIX Crysta using PayPal (through UltimatePay and PlaySpan). The characteristic of the problem is that my payment keeps getting cancelled at the last step.

–          I logged into Square Enix account management.
–          I went to “Add Crysta” page and selected UltimatePay and then PayPal – PayPal log in screen pops up as usual.
–          I logged in to my PayPal account.
–          I confirmed the amount of money I want to pay and proceeded to “Pay Now.”
–          In Square Enix Crysta purchase window, instead of showing message for completion of purchase, it shows error saying PayPal rejected my payment.
–          The message says “PayPal Express CheckoutError PayPal Express Checkout has rejected your payment attempt. Please select another way to pay. We apologize for the inconvenience.”

This happens every day for many days, until I gave up and used credit card to directly pay for my Crysta.

But WAIT, after failing many times in buying Crysta into my account, I tried to buy Crysta for my friend, into her Square Enix account, and it was successful in first try. So I retried my account again, and still failed.

Something is weird here. Same PayPal account, same payment method, buying same product (Crysta), yet my own account kept getting the purchase cancelled while my friend’s was fine like it should be?

First, I contacted Square Enix Support, telling them all the details. They told me sorry, but the purchase is handled and managed by UltimatePay, so that’s where I should head for technical support.

I thought my problem might go away after a month, so I didn’t contact them until 2 days ago. I had to contact them because the problem still exists. This month, I still cannot pay for my own Crysta. And guess what, I had no problem in paying for Haku’s Crysta. Ugh, what gives?

Anyway, I contacted UltimatePay and they got back to me, asking for transaction ID and stuff. I told them the information I needed, and they were able to find my cancelled transaction history. I also told them, after exchanging a few emails, that I had another successful transaction, and asked them to help spot the difference that made my purchase cancel while Haku’s purchase was successful.

They eventually replied saying “Please know that online transactions are processed automatically by the system. Since this process is automated, the system has several inbuilt security filters which verify the online transaction to ensure a safe and error free transaction. If the criteria set by these security filters are not met, the order gets declined. We suggest that you wait a full 48 hours before attempting a new payment. If the system still rejects your payment, you will need to select a different payment option available in your country to complete your purchase.” Which means they cannot help me troubleshoot my problem by comparing the failed and the successful transactions to eliminate possibilities.

They gave me a list of why would a transaction be considered suspicious for the automated system which would then lead to it getting rejected:

-You email address is linked to more than one account
-You have exceeded the amount of payments you are able to send in a specific period of time
-You have exceeded the dollar amount you are able to send in a specific period of times
-Your PayPal account is being used to make payments for more than one account
-You have placed too many unsuccessful orders for your account in a short period of time

-You email address is linked to more than one account : FALSE, if it means SQEN account or UltimatePay account.
-You have exceeded the amount of payments you are able to send in a specific period of time : FALSE, I haven’t made any payment for several days before and while trying to buy Crysta.
-You have exceeded the dollar amount you are able to send in a specific period of times : FALSE, it was just 10 dollars.
-Your PayPal account is being used to make payments for more than one account : TRUE
-You have placed too many unsuccessful orders for your account in a short period of time : FALSE, it’s been rejected since my first attempt.

So, this is the only checklist I have for trying to find where the problem stemmed from. I doubt I would get any better support from them, since they insisted that the transaction was processed with automated system and that I should try again in 48 hours.

I then contacted PayPal, describing the whole situation, and asked if there’s something wrong with my PayPal account that would make the transaction get cancelled. They said there is nothing wrong with my PayPal and that the transactions have been all cancelled by the merchant.

So it seems my quest to fix this problem has run into a dead end.

T.T

I shall update about this later if I get any more useful (or disappointing) information.

FFXIV Main Scenario Ending

2 days ago, very very late at night, I finally managed to finish the last mission (main scenario quest) in FFXIV. I felt so drained afterward, and extremely exhausted, although I got a hell lot of help from friends in the Linkshell and from strangers from Duty Finder. I went as WHM for a healer, while Corn joined as PLD to tank and dragged Diver in as a BLM because they felt that I would keep procrastinating if I were left to seek party on my own. XD

*Spoilers Warning* (Main quest lv 50)
Screenshots in this entry are taken from cutscenes and will reveal some plot details, such as whom we fought against, who accompanied us besides the party members, who returned, who survived, etc. So, if you haven’t finished main scenario quest of level 50 in Praetorium, you might not want to see this entry.

FFXIV_Ending01

So, after rushing through Castrum Meridianum without watching any cutscene, because I was scared of being yelled at, and that it is said that people tend to be an asshole about it in Castrum Meridianum, and the fact that I was a healer and was too afraid to keep watching the cutscene while other party members might be dying, I proceeded to the next dungeon battle.

FFXIV_Ending02

However, in this dungeon, I tried to watch everything, as people said some of the cutscenes here are one-time only and won’t show up ever again.

I really like how the cutscenes in FFXIV are mostly rendered from real time right at the spot, because then they also show other party members who was in the same fight as me. :D

FFXIV_Ending03

I didn’t know much about the strategy or even what to do. I just followed the group and did what Corn reminded me to do (like obtaining the key card to get a magitek armor).

FFXIV_Ending04

In boss fights, there was no briefing by other party members, only Corn told me (in LS chat) what to expect and what to dodge with special care, etc. ><;; It’s not hard but I had to keep my focus better than usual, as it’s my first time in this dungeon and I hadn’t researched at all (yeah my bad LOL.)

FFXIV_Ending05

The pic below was taken mid-conversation, and yet Corn was already grabbing his sword LOL!!!

FFXIV_Ending06

Then I drew my weapon, too, and photobombed myself. T.T

FFXIV_Ending07

I like this serious look! (Below) Can’t tell if it’s just I was alerted or if I was angry.

FFXIV_Ending08

In some of the cutscenes, I activated the chatlog so that I could peek if anyone was yelling at me or not. And no one yelled. So I kept watching every cutscene.

FFXIV_Ending09

This gigantic monster was such a pain in the ass. >< I had a hard time dodging shit because it was such a havoc in there. Everything was so confusing. But at least I didn’t get hit by the laser beams.

FFXIV_Ending10

Round 2 was a tough nut as well.

FFXIV_Ending11

After the long dungeon, the ending cutscene was really worth it.

FFXIV_Ending12

And after the exit ending cutscene, then the end credits, there is one more cutscene to wrap up the story and prepare for the next leg of adventure.

FFXIV_Ending13

I’m alive and well

Hi, all. Just a quick post to let you know that I am still alive and well. Been a bit busy going to places in Eorzea and hanging out with friends and stuff, you know.

ffxiv_12042013_220048s

I’ve also finished my fishing log in the Black Shroud as well as Mor Dhona (since last week, eeeeep!) I will get around to posting the fishing map and fish list soon.

Where to farm Fleece in FFXIV

I saw that quite a lot of search engine keywords that lead people here lately were about fleece farming. So I marked the map (from memory, because I am now fishing in Mor Dhona and didn’t want to go to Coerthas to check these farming spots) for estimated locations of where you can find these Ornery Karakuls.

ffxiv_karakul A. is immediately south of Camp Dragonhead. There are some ledges you have to run around to climb up, so it’s not very good for those who cannot range attack (ability/arrow/spell).

B. is east, across the road from A. Requires a bit of legwork because the spawns are a little far apart.

C. is northeast from top right gate of Dragonhead. There is one sheep that would pop on a high ledge. You have to go up there or use range attack. All other sheeps pop on the ground but a bit dispersed. You’ll need to run around a lot.

D. is northwest, but you have to go around from northeast gate. It is the same spot where Ogre’s FATE named Simply Red pops. Has ledges and the rocks/mountain in the area make it a bit of a hassle in reaching all the pops.

E. is on the right side of the road when you head to Gate of Judgment from Dragonhead. I am not so sure of the location, it’s somewhere near Gate of Judgment.

F. I saw some Ornery Karakuls outside of west gate from Observatorium with epic long name. It might be a small group, and wide apart. I never stopped to count how many. I passed this area again and couldn’t see any Karakul. Seems like I remembered the wrong side of the gate. I thought I saw some Karakuls here while doing Botanist levequests, but it might actually be the east side, not here.

G. I saw some more of the Karakuls outside east gate of the Observatorium while doing Pudding Levequest here.

Moreover, some of the levequests in the area will spawn Karakuls for you (the Pudding one named Necrologos: Cinerary Rite, too. You can kill 5 Karakuls in this LQ, then the Pudding will pop, if you run away from the pudding, you can kill the last 3 Karakuls as well, which will total to 8 Karakuls per LQ.) LQ’s Karakuls can also drop Fleece.
