ABOUT

ffxiv_02092016_191627_newHi! My name is Aleczan Knighthill from FFXI and FFXIV. This is my new blog that I made especially for writing about FFXIV: A Realm Reborn, which was officially launched on August 27, 2013.

If you are looking for my old blog, where I wrote about FFXI and about FFXIV 1.0, as well as an entry about FFXIV: ARR Beta Test Phase 4, you will have to check out the old blog at http://www.aleczan.com/FFXI/ ^^

On 2.0, I moved my main character from 1.0 (Excalibur) to Ragnarok. However, as I have a lot of friends (including my bro, LOL!) on Masamune, I also made a new character over there too, just so I can hop on and peekaboo them sometimes. The name is Thanatos Ginsei, and he was created to represent Ginsei, an original role play character of my friend’s.

When I started writing my blog, I just wanted to write something about the game I very much enjoy, because it is full of memories, and some of those memories are valuable, or worth sharing. Sometimes I also write stuff to vent about the game or people I ran into. Sometimes I just wanted to share an experience, or some screenshots. So you will mostly find my blog articles full of blabble and nonsense.

I DID NOT expect so much traffic to my blog, but the Dye Reference entries were very popular and got a lot of incoming clicks. But please kindly be informed that my blog is like my personal journal, not mainly FFXIV Resource or reference blog. So if you can’t find the information you’re looking for, I’m sorry to disappoint. However, if you leave a question and it is within my knowledge to answer, I will try my best to assist with the information. So, please feel free to talk or leave a comment!

hey, just wanted to let you know your color coded maps of HW mobs are immensely useful! I was doing clan hunts today and couldn’t find one of them, and bam, your map helped me right away. :)

And I appreciate your rants about 24 man runs. About to swear off them for life >.>

Hahaha! I’m glad my maps are useful. Thanks for the comment. :)

Just found your Fishing Log…what a wonderful resource.

Do have a complaint for Square though. Am level 44 Fisher and my GC Mission is 2 (Level 42) Thunderbolt Sculpins, which can’t be fished without a Level 50 Trait to open the Long Climb Fishing Hole. What is it with that?

    Seriously, congratulations!

    Dave

Wow, that’s one messed up GC supplies request…. I think they didn’t plan and check their fishing hole requirement carefully enough.

      Thank you!

Great blog! Question for you; have create a macro where you can enter a flag and the coordinates with a keyboard? I work with timed nodes, and it would be awesome if I could enter the coordinates and flag where I need to go. Thanks!

    • Aleczan Knighthill says:

      Thank you!!!

Sadly, the flag needs to be put there manually.
You can make a macro to display the already marked flag, but you can’t make the macro mark the flag for you.
I really want SE to let us mark multiple pins on our own map and save it for future reference (like in FF11) T___T It’s hard to remember all the legendary nodes spots and they despawn too fast to google sometimes…
